Welcome to Kuzi Pottery Studio
We are a production pottery and workshop space located at Karen Hardy.
Who We Are
Kuzi Pottery Studio is a production pottery and workshop space. We offer classes for beginners and courses for those who wish to deepen their skills.
We also accommodate private parties and corporate events – please contact us for details.
As a co-founder of Kuzi Pottery Studio, George has been a production potter across Kenya for over 20 years and has taught all levels for the last 10 years.
Felix is our studio apprentice with 18 months of experience. Together they ably assist learners whether they are looking for a fun activity day or to grow their understanding of the craft of pottery.

How to Prepare
We advise that you arrive 5 minutes before class to put away your personal items and get ready. Latecomers will not get a time extension so be on time to make the most of the experience!
Pottery can get messy! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Clay will wash off and aprons will be provided but there is a likelihood that you will get splashed. If you are planning to use the wheel we recommend wearing trousers or shorts rather than a skirt or dress and shoes you can wipe clean.
Bring an open mind! Pottery is a craft that takes years to hone but the satisfaction of creating items as you learn is addictive! Don’t expect to create masterpieces as a beginner and instead enjoy the fun of trying something completely new.
We provide tea, coffee and water. You are also welcome to shop at Kuzi showroom and nursery during your time with us.
After your session there are some great places nearby to eat or grab a drink. Cultiva, Tin Roof Cafe at Langata Link and Artcaffe are all within a 5-10 minute drive or 20-30 minute walk.
What to Expect
During your session you will make between 3-5 items on average using either / both hand building and wheel throwing. Each student can then choose 3 items to be bisque fired per session. This takes approx 2 weeks as the clay must first dry out before firing.
George runs our pottery sessions. With over 20 years experience as a potter he’s a master of his craft and has been teaching students at all levels for the last 10 years.
Please note that beginners often find their items will crack (thicker clay pieces are more likely to crack and those starting out usually make thicker items) and we cannot be held responsible for items that break during the drying and / or firing process.
Once your items have been bisque fired they can be collected. If you wish to glaze your item you can return to glaze for 1000/- per hour, or we can clear glaze your items for between 200/- to 500/- depending on size of your piece.
Please note that any items made during sessions will be kept for a maximum of 3 months before being removed. Join our Whatsapp Group where we will post any unclaimed items.
Studio Rules
- Do not touch other student’s work on the shelves. If something breaks please notify the pottery studio staff.
- Please wash and return all tools used during your session to their correct place.
- No clay or glaze from external sources to be brought into the pottery without permission from George.
- If sanding or glazing please wear a face-mask and do so in the instructed areas away from other students.
- Please name all your items. We recommend taking photos of all your items at the end of your session so you remember what you made (as many items look similar!).
